Making plans

Now the year has turned we have started making plans for the caravan this year.

Our first outing will be to Beadnall in Northumberland over the Easter break, we have already booked the site. OH wants to go back to Lindisfarne, so I have checked the tide tables and we will be able to go at not too early an hour in the morning. There is also a quilting shop on the A697 in Longframlington I want to go back to, so that will also take care of a morning at least.

Our big trip will be May/June. Ripon, Leicester,(to visit family) Chester, Kendal, Port William in SW Scotland, Culzean, we are members of the NTS and there are several properties in the area we want to vissit. Lauder,  again to maximise our NTS card use and then home, we will be away around 4 weeks.

Another trip in September, no idea where yet. In the mean time if the weather is good we will be off  for a couple or 3 days when the sun shines, and sometimes when it doesn't.

Not having the veg garden to deal with has freed up time and we aim to make full use of it; even to OH missing bowls. He is not going to commit to a regular day and time for the visitors centre this year but will volunteer to cover in case of holidays, illness etc.

We need to go and check the van once the snow has gone, all the bedding etc was brought home when we winterized the van at the end of the year, water heater drained down, cupboard doors etc left open, the settee cushions left on end so air could circulate under the bunks and plugs put in the plug holes. Most of the stuff went in the attic except the duvets which are in the top of the wardrobe in the 2nd bedroom. Once the weather warms up a bit we will re-stock the van ready for our trips.

Well done, Anne on making all these future plans for holidays. You sound to have got everything well sussed out, even down to tidal times. Hope it all works out splendidly for you both. Your second trip sounds very extensive, but it is well planned.

Hope your snow has gone now and it is warming up a bit. Looks to have been bad in Scotland, but perhaps that is further north from where you live.

What lovely plans for lots of fun, visiting friends and family, and interesting historic venues, too. I didn't see Windermere on your list, so don't forget that quilt shop! If you're away for a month, surely that can be worked into the schedule (unless you spend your funds at Longframlington, of course!). Aren't you glad you and OH purchased the caravan?!

It's really cold here and the forecast for tonight is a low of 14*F. Major brrrr! Am going to bundle up and go to the library today, tho.

Hugs!

Your trips sound lovely, something to look forward to while we're having wintry weather.

Will you be going round the Solway Coast to get to Port William? We toured around there a few years ago and it was beautiful.
