Wednesday

OH was at the visitor point today from 12 - 4pm. I had an email from my friend, she is on days off so she came over for a coffee and then we took off to Costco. I had never been there before although I used to go to Macro years ago.

A big warehouse with lots of goodies, I had a good look round and bought 7 thick prok chops and 4 smoked haddock fillets. I also bought 4 pairs of thick socks 2 for OH and 2 for me.

The yearly fee for Costco is £25 I am just trying to work out if I would save enough to justify the £25 and also the cost of travelling to the store. I must admit the huge bag of toilet rolls seemed to be a good buy.

The chops (7) cost £8.38  they are almost twice as thick as the ones I buy from Aldi at £1.99 for 2 so enough chops for 3 unday supper and one that can be diced and cooked for pork and bean casserole, not a bad buy.

The haddock was £6.41 which works out at £3.20 for two fillets which will make a really nice supper or lunch for us, different to the piece of haddock I bought from Tesco a few weeks ago, one piece which I cut in half was just over £4.

The socks came out at £3 15 a pair after VAT was added.

I would like to go again and have a really good look.

I got the bag out with the left over Christmas stuff in and also the box of christmas fabric, I need to go through and see what fabric I have and what I can make. Could do with some ideas. I will be making a couple of the small Christmas tree wall hangings that I made last year and also some stockings using calico as a base and covering them with either strips or crazy patchwork.

We were late eating tonight, macaroni cheese with tomato and celery salad, Oh had poached rhubarb I had  an apple.

Sounds like you had a lovely outing with your friend! Nice!

We have Costco here and I was surprised to read you have one there. I wonder if it's the same company? If so, their Kirkland brand of paper towels are the best. Those paper towels are packed 12 wrapped rolls to a bale. We go there whenever we need paper towels and usually buy frozen meat, poultry, and fish, too.

It's the 4th so our flag is flying. Rob made a cherry pie so while the oven was still hot, I made a pan of brownies. Yum!

Hugs!

We have a membership to a similar warehouse store and I've decided it definitely is not worth the price of the membership after the drive. Some years we are in the city fairly often to see doctors, but on the healthy years we seldom leave the country. If a person culd only look into the future and know if the upcoming year is going to require doctor visits or not!!

Best Wishes, Barb
