A late start again this morning, well after 8am before I opened my eyes.
After breakfast I decided to go and sew out another two of the inserts for Christmas cards. I am trying to use up the stock I have, so neede to find designs to fit the apatures on the cards.
Oopsy appeared just as I was finishing a new design, she asked to 'push the button' to start the last colour.
OH came home from bowls wet through, his waterproof jacket and cap were soaking, I hung them up but they are still a bit damp this morning. He has been for a walk down to the Drs to put in a request for a repeat script, he said he had been for a short walk around the area past one of the houses we used to live in. He said that garden was a mess as well, seems that most tenants do not look after their gardens. The garden next door the grass has obscured the path, so anyone going to the house uses out path which is annoying to say the least.
Its brighish but we still have strong winds which make it feel quite cold, autumn is definately here.
To link up with Buddies Friday this is our menu for next week:
Sunday - Roast Lamb.
Monday - Lamb with jacket spuds and salad.
Tuesday Sausage and mash.
Wednesday - Bacon pasta and salad.
Thursday OH bowling, I will raid the freezer.
Friday - fish, mash and peas.
Saturday - Beefburgers with chips and a side salad.
I am hoping to go to the fabric warehouse on Sunday before we go to the allotment. I need more spray baste and also some wadding. I am only taking money for what I need, I have been down that road before. Cotton Reel can never go without coming out with something she didn't go for!!!
Changed my mind and went to the warehouse this lunchtime, it was empty, no one there but the place looked like a bomb had hit it. They had no white on white backing fabric, not due in till the end of October, so the braid quilt will have to wait. I did get the spray, wadding and a metre of hessian type fabric to make a couple of bags for friends. Spent just over £20 which was good for me!!!
The wind is still blowing a hoolie, yet its quite warm, rather strange, its one of those days when its warmer out than in!!!
I found the chicken Kievs I could not find on Tuesday so OH will be having them for supper tonight, he has requested chips, so thats what he will get, with some green beans.
Someone asked for the recipe for the wholemeal loaf. I use a panasonic bread maker to make the dough.
12ozs wholemeal flour.
8 ozs white strong flour.
1 teasp quick action yeast.
1 teasp salt.
I tablesp brown sugar.
1 tablesp vegetable oil and about 380 - 400 mls of water. The amount of water depends on the type of flour you use. Some flours absorb more than others.
Mix the dough on the dough programme. put it in an oiled 2lb loaf tin under a tea towel and allow it to double in size then bake for 45 minutes at 200c. Tip out of the tin and allow to cool.
I have found from experience that using oil in the bread makes the bread keeps longer and there are not so many crumbs when you cut it.
If I decide to make it in the breadmaker I just use the short wholemeal programme which takes 3 hours, shove everything in, put it on and 3 hours later a loaf!!!

Another one who can't resist spending when in a quilting store. I know I know, you only spent a little bit this time. I'm more like Cottonreel. Hubby always tells me, don't take your wallet, debit card or cash when you go there. He knows me!!
I can never understand why people leave their yards to, even if they are renting. Don't they have any pride. A few $$ will purchase a few flowers. And even if they can't afford that, at least cut your lawn. We have a few in our town...it really is annoying!!
Hope you are having a wonderful day.
Yes ! I,m cottonreel , I went to Kisko our fabric guild this morning with bluebell . I was very selective. When we went the place was packed.
Thanks for the bread recipe!
